1549 Matthew-Tyndall Bible Leaf (1st Thessalonians Title Page)
This is an authentic reprint of the 1537 first edition of the Matthews Bible. This 1549 leaf contains the TITLE PAGE TO 1ST THESSALONIANS. This leaf will come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
This leaf has an interesting story: Up until the 19th Century, men went around in horse drawn carts collecting bones and rags (cloth). The Bones were used to make glue and the rags (cloth) were used to make pages much as wood pulp is used today. They earned the nickname "rag and bone men". This work with wields together the best of work of Tyndale and Coverdale, is considered to be the real primary version of our English Bible.

The second version of the Bible in English, edited by John Rogers, who wrote under the pseudonym of Thomas Matthew, either in fear of his life or to conceal the fact that a considerable part of his Bible was from the condemned translation of Tyndale. This edition is also known as the “Becke Bible” on account of the dedication to Edmund Becke; the “Indecent Bible” because of many objectionable notes; and the “Wife Beating Bible” from a note “to beate the feare of God into her heade.” Includes four copies of a modern reprint of the New Testament title page.
